Wipe Waste Away- Craft Assignment
Name of Assignment: Wipe Waste Away
Subject: ART Facilitator/Teacher: Maile Getzen Description of Work/Assignment: A student in the seniors class presented their Senior Project, they cleaned the beaches and came with bags and bags of trash. our assignment was to make a trash sea animal based off real sea animals. Which 21st Century Skill do you feel this assignment addresses, and why? The one and only thing I can say I used in the assignment (since im trying to not intersect and just use one of each skill) would be Global Awareness as the entire project is made of fully recycled waste materials. What are you most proud of from this assignment, and why? Just the look of the anglerfish, it turned out exactly how I wanted him to with an underbite and all. How did you develop and/or improve upon your 21st Century Skill with this assignment? Ive actually never really worked with trash in art before, so this was interesting and new. I definitely didn't expect there to be POUNDS AND POUNDS. What was most difficult about completing this task? Dealing with rusty cans that could have cut me, I had to be very very careful to not somehow injure myself. How could you improve this work? I wanted to add a tail that could be made out of a chunk of fan shaped plastic, but never got to it as I couldn't find the parts needed How does this relate to what you have learned in the past? Not much surprisingly, other than you shouldn't throw your trash into the ocean. How can you apply this to future learning? If I ever get further into physical arts I think using trash I found myself would be very liberating to do. |
